He engineered a plan to get himself into a foster home by creating a meth lab in his backyard and framing his mom for it, therefore getting her arrested. The police however found out about this later and arrested Cartman and placed him in jail for two months.

His cynicism becomes so serious his friendship with the other characters is destroyed. His parents also separate, causing Stan to move out of his childhood home, though it was shown in the next episode. In "Ass Burgers", the follow-up to "You're Getting Old", Stan is shown to still be depressed.

Now we know: in at least the first special, the kids are all grown up. Paramount+ released the first look at what it is now calling a South Park “exclusive event.” Called South Park: Post Covid, the special will feature at least two of the animated show's kids—Stan and Kyle—as adults.

They thought the running gag was growing stale and that his character was just a prop. Plus, they were really starting to like Butters as a character around this time, and they wanted him to replace Kenny as a fourth member of the group.
